Filling in the brows can often sound easier than it actually is, and you are not always completely sure that you are even doing it right. Here we list five common mistakes when filling in your eyebrows - and how to solve them.

1. You pluck your brows in connection with your styling.

We've probably all stood in front of the mirror with fixed eyebrows, only to start examining which hairs are ruining your perfectly framed brows. Plucking your brows in itself is not bad, but it can ruin you and your brows in several different ways. For example, you run the risk of plucking hairs that are actually needed for the overall shape of your brows, and the more densely you pluck, the more difficult it becomes to distinguish the natural shape. When you start plucking hairs every other day, you also disturb the growth cycle of the hair follicles. This means that your brow hairs never really recover, and can therefore in some cases cause the hair follicles to die and stop producing new hairs.

So don't be afraid to let your brows grow out, you're doing yourself and your brows a favor. Rather pick every three to four weeks, and if you have the opportunity - go to a professional to help you! You can read more about our threading hair removal method here .

2. You match the brows with your hair color

Many people think that the best color for their brows is the one that matches their hair color. This may be true if you like very natural eyebrows, but to give the face definition and even shine, we recommend always going a shade darker than your hair color. A quick solution if you don't like coloring your brows is to use a colored brow gel instead. It gives a quick and fixed result in just a few minutes and also disappears at the end of the day. A bonus is that brows often look fuller when you go a shade darker because the brows become more prominent, and who doesn't like that?

Our tinted brow gel Tint & Fiber Brow Gel not only adds color but also contains 3% fibres. It works much like a fixed mascara for your brows - color, shape and volume!

3. You push too hard.

A brow that is too sharp is a brow that is too angry! A common mistake many people make is filling in their brows too heavily. Eyebrows that are sharp or angular often look very painted on and can give your face an unnecessarily hard impression.

If you find it difficult not to press too hard when styling your brows with a brow pencil, we recommend using a brow pencil that is creamier in texture. This type of brow pencil tends not to be as pigmented as the harder kind, which makes it easier to adjust your styling if it gets too sharp after all. Another tip is to use a bronzer gel instead. Then you get the same plump effect, but with a much more natural result. A brow gel glides over the brows and covers the already existing ones, making it difficult to get too sharp or even fail! Be light and work gradually - it's always easier to add than to take away.

We recommend Brow Twist to anyone looking for a simple and creamy brow pencil that adds color and fullness.

4. You don't match your brows to your styling.

Most people have a brow styling that they always turn to - whether it's for work, a nice dinner or a party. It can be nice to know exactly how the brows will turn out and how long they will take, but adapting your brow styling to your entire look can do more than you think!

Your eyebrows are the most important accessory of your face. If you're going for a festive make-up with a lot of eye shadow, a pair of fluffy ones can be a nice addition to balance the hard with a pair of softer brows. If, on the other hand, you go for a natural make-up with a colorful lip, a pair of defined brows can break nicely against the feminine, soft by adding something tougher and hard.

5. You don't finish with a fixing product.

Regardless of how you like to style your brows, a finishing, fixing product is always a good idea. Not only does it make brows look fuller and more defined, it also extends the durability of your brow styling. Spending all those minutes in the morning to get those perfect brows is almost a waste if at the end of the day they haven't lasted. There is a whole host of fixing brow products and something to suit everyone; transparent brow gel , colored brow gel , brow soaps and brow wax. Make a habit of always finishing with a fixing product at the end of your styling - you'll thank yourself at the end of the day.
